This limit has increased at least twice since SU began.
I believe the official word is that is that it's too computationally expensive to have an arbitrary length list.
20: Gosh durn it. NM. |

Go on - increase the limit to 2,000 and then there will be zillions of threads complaining that 2,000 is just too many. |

| elledark | May 6, 1:53pm | | #16 I wouldn't disagree with marielaem about the 'friends' totals being seen by some as kind of 'popularity' indicator, which is sad but really a separate issue. My point was that the use of the word 'friends' to describe what are in effect 'subscribers' is confusing to many. If you've worked out what it means thats fine but, believe me, a lot of people haven't. From my own experience I've found that I've had to explain many times to people with a genuine misunderstanding of it and a couple of times I've posted links to the official SU explanation of what they mean by 'friend'. You have to remember that many, many SU users are new, casual, don't hang around discussion forums and generally expect words to be used in their normal 'real-world' sense. But that said its not a huge deal, just a little understandable confusion thats not, in itself, inhibiting anyones enjoyment..:)) |
